RESUME
Paula Amerine is known for still life paintings of Placer County's abundant fresh fruits, vegetables and seasonal grapevines. Her unique use of oil pastel and acrylic allows her to layer and glaze pigment in a traditional manner with a contemporary approach. She retired from teaching art classes at Del Oro High School, is currently teaching oil painting for Placer Adult School and offers private instruction in her studio at the OLAS building, 175 Almond St., Auburn, CA.
While teaching at the high school in Loomis, California, Paula taught students about the history of agrolithography (fruit label art) and how it was used at the local fruit sheds where many of their families had worked in the industry of packing and shipping fruit. She passionately sought out community projects so that her students could share their mural painting skills and contribute to the local restoration project of the Blue Goose
Fruit Shed which now serves as a major event center in Placer County.
Her paintings are in public and private collections in California and the Northwest.
